Frequently Asked Questions About Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal works by targeting the hair follicle with a concentrated beam of laser light to destroy the root of the hair. The light energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair which turns into heat and destroys the follicle which prevents any further growth. However, hair grows in different cycles and not all hair is in the same cycle at the same time which is why multiple treatments are required.
Most people find laser hair removal to be comfortable, but it may cause some mild discomfort in certain areas. The sensation is often described as a rubber band being snapped against the skin. We minimise potential discomfort by the use of our advance cooling machine along with the inbuilt crystal freeze technology within our laser machine to ensure that we reduce the heat sensation on the skin as much as possible.
The number of treatments required for effective results varies based on hair colour, skin type, and the treatment area. Typically, 6-8 treatments are recommended with intervals of 4/6/8/10 weeks between each session depending on the area. Each part of the body has a different hair growth cycle which means we will only book you in according to when we know you will have the maximum hair growth in the stage we want. So that rather than having you come in at 6 weeks regardless (potentially wasting your money and our time!) we know that by waiting slightly longer we can maximise the effectiveness of the treatment and save you money with less treatments overall but with the same results in the same timeframe!
Laser hair removal is a safe procedure when performed by a trained professional using high-quality equipment.
Some side-effects that may occur include redness, swelling, and mild discomfort in the treated area. These side effects are usually temporary and subside within a few hours.
Yes, laser hair removal can be done on all skin types, but the appropriate laser wavelength must be used.
Yes, you can shave in between treatments, but you should avoid waxing, plucking, or threading the hair as it will remove the hair from the follicle.
